About Us

Wilhelm-Jost-Institut is an independent scientific Institute with an interdisciplinary working group consisting of engineers, chemists, physicists and biologists. This work group concern themself with problems of process engineering and security, the fire and explosion prevention as well as environmental protection.

The eponym of the institute is Mr. Professor Dres. h. C mult. Wilhelm Jost (1903 - 1988), who was one of the first experts of safety engineering.

Prof. Dr. em. rer. nat. H.-G. Schecker  was up to his death in 2004 chairman of the board and founder of the William Jost Institute. In addition to his activities at the University of  Dortmund he is a member in several German and European committees.

For example:

• Chairman of the "risk, reliability, damage analysis" - working comittee of the DECHEMA for many years
• Member of the incident commission of the Federal Ministry for environmental and reactor safety since 1978 to 2001
• Member of the "Loss Prevention Party" since 1978

Today this association still represents this spirit and gives a broad stage for interdiscipliary scientific exchange of international expert kowledge.

5. Convention 20.-21. September 2024

The Board proudly recognized 31 members attending the 5. Convention at LWL-Freilichtmuseum Hagen.

On Friday our members will listen tho the interesting contributions, and will join the museum tour. Feasting and socializing will also be an important part of the convention.

The convention ist about to end roud noon on Saturday after the closing of the official members convention.
